While I find your opinion unique and a good point. Politicians are useless garbage, especially in a world ruled by the church and monarchy. Tell me why does having control of the ENTIRE country from its very soil to the buildings. How is it inferior to only renting the land as a normal king/politician? All those things you point out butchering/corrupting are easily done as a dungeon-lord? You're making things that are unrelated and linking them for no reason.
