Which is why I posted the correction. Thirteen is the one being referenced not the one being talked to. The only way the current way the sentence is written makes sense is if they already know thirteen is significantly older than them. Since they don’t they should be talking about when they were thirteens age instead of when Thirteen is their age like the sentence is currently saying.
