While in terms of size and weight you are correct, the logistics in doing so would be significantly more complex. Whereas with guitars, bass, or drums ect you can tune/soundcheck off stage, such that you're ready to perform almost instantly, this equipment isn't that intuitive. Adding in the compatibility issues between different brands/manufacturers of the soundstage and whatever equipment the DJ is bringing, it's simpler just to have everyone use the same equipment.
