I just had a dream similar to this book. instead of being a human, it was a race of dragons that could change into human form when needed but we were still fighting demons. i was in the MC's shoes and we were in aerial combat doing a final desperate push into enemy territory but they seem to have known we were coming and brought out heavy hitters, leading to all but me to die in our escape. I happened to land near a source of power similar to the demons and recklessly tried to absorb power from it to get revenge, only for a powerful demon to walk up to me as I was in the middle of trying to absorb the power as it destroyed me from the inside out. he used this opportunity to use the power and what was left of my body to make a demon body to inhabit while any remnants of my dragon body after that would be left to be regenerated. so I grew up with his daughter and went to school with her to learn how they do things. my dream then time skipped a few times. i forget some of it but I remember having the ability to appraise items and enjoying my time with the demons after a while. the last time skip led to me reintroducing myself to a crowd of both dragons and demons with both my demon and dragon body, retelling the story of the attack to them and explaining to them my life with the demons. then i woke up

I am very happy that they didn't disappear. it would have been like seeing those you loved die again, making that scar open again. Even I would have cried a bit if they didn't get to stay. just goes to show you are good at what you are doing and you should keep doing it

It's been 3 days and one horrendously long Skype call to headquarters, since it's no longer feasible for the whole Task Force to assemble for weekly meetings.
