huh. I just went back to double check, and yup. he was able to get the surgery last time because Yue passed out on the street and he hitched a ride on the ambulance he called for him. I guess in the other timeline he just never got to the hospital. So in the end, him having his sight right now is a direct side effect from the butterfly effect from Yue

guys. the problem is that his memories of this timeline's changes got erased, so it makes everything weird. Yue and Barf both came back at roughly the same time, and their situation hadn't changed from their memories yet. Fan, however, went through several months of the timeline changing before his memories got activated, and now they're having trouble merging properly. Yue and Barf didn't go through any major personality changes during the extra ten years of memories, but Fan went from blind powerless son of a rich family to the freaking GENERAL in charge of a CITY

that's what I was thinking should have happened with those types of abilities. like, if everybody with abilities was going to develop enhanced speed and strength eventually, it would make sense for those who originally developed them to have some kind of advantage over the others in using them, or that they should be able to develop them further than the others could
