This is so true. Imagine someone breaks into your house and you call the cops, but by the time they made it there you were already either kidnapped or murdered or beat up. All depends on your imagination. Any of those incidences can happen and it will be too late.

I recommend that you introduce the character in a different way. This just isn't that nice to read.

I've heard that if its hard to concentrate than having something to fiddle with in your hands while concentrating helps a bit. For example if you have a ball to move around in your hand while doing some homework helps me a lot. Basically a fidget toy that helps you concentrate.
