All five carried the same equipment pattern, a Thermal Spear and a hand. The thermal weapons are great for mining, as they can even melt rock, so colonies like this preferred them for their utility. To be fair, When he set out the author DID say that the God class mecha were faster than starships. But then again, Ling Lan did catch up to a ship running from an anomaly... But the smaller mecha have limitations on power storage/range.
