I'm kind of surprised that Daphne doesn't support Atticus. He makes good points. Maybe she just needs time. Though, I don't know why he taught her how to use her magic when he knew he was going to take it away. She might have supported him if he had told her about his plans before she got magic.

Okay, I understand Arlan's anger more now and his desire to kill his betrothed so the witch can never be free. It's still not excusable how he treated her, but it is understandable.
