This novel has the same problem that most “TV-based” novels on this site have: it creates nothing original. Chinese novels in this genre may be as racist or tone-deaf as people say, but at least they usually try to build an original plot. Even if they occasionally copy episodes or dialogues from the shows they are based on, they normally develop their own storyline and move away from the source material. That does not happen here. This novel is basically a copy-and-paste of the original shows. Yes, some dialogues are changed, and because several TV universes have been merged, new characters appear in scenes where they originally did not belong. But the overall structure remains exactly the same: same scenes, same order, same progression, with only minor changes. One chapter adapts Modern Family, then another adapts Friends, then Two and a Half Men, and so on. In essence, they are still the exact same shows, just with a few extra characters inserted into them. And honestly, that does not meet the minimum standard I expect from a novel that wants to be more than just a copy. That said, despite this flaw, I have to admit it is entertaining. The protagonist is fairly well written. He is not exactly Barney Stinson—because Barney is essentially an extreme caricature of the classic womanizer, almost a satire taken to its absolute limit—but the author manages to adapt that essence and tone it down enough for it to fit into a setting like Modern Family, where the original Barney would never realistically fit. And that part is done well.

First of all, relax a little. What I said about none of the Harry Potter protagonists having participated in any movie similar to the Harry Potter saga is true, whether you like it or not. Some of them have had a minimally prolific career, which is true and only logical after having participated in one of the most famous and profitable franchises in the world. But none of them has become a truly established actor, with an impressive career and filmography on the level of someone like Ryan Gosling or similar actors. I understand that you may like them and have a good impression of them, but they are not that big of a deal outside of Harry Potter. Secondly, I think it is very exaggerated to believe that, after only three movies (only one of them being Harry Potter), in most of which she was not even the main protagonist, she would already reach such a huge level of fame comparable to major stars. I find that hard to believe. If you do not like my opinion, that is perfectly fine, but I still think the same. Your response has not changed my opinion at all, and I do not expect to change yours either.

Am I enjoying this novel? Yes. It’s quite entertaining, has a good pace, and never feels boring. The problem I see is that, at least for now, it doesn’t seem to really explore anything in depth; everything feels very superficial. For example, during the school arc there were several elements that could have been used much better: Malcolm, the group of nerds, the teacher who had it out for Malcolm, and even the overall school dynamic itself. However, it feels like all of that has been wasted and simply glossed over without much development. The novel is entertaining, and that’s true. But beyond that, it doesn’t seem to offer much more. In many cases, it feels like just watching episodes of Two and a Half Men with a few changes—it’s entertaining, but it doesn’t necessarily seem to be heading toward anything deeper.

So what? Not only is she not the main character, but she's just a child star and they've only released the first movie in the saga. Aside from Harry Potter, have you seen its actors participate in any other productions of the same caliber?

I mean, you don't seem to have a plan regarding video games other than wanting to release the first home console. And that doesn't guarantee anything. The winner of the first generation of consoles wasn't the one with the best machine, but the one with the best catalog of video games. You could try to create a subsidiary in Japan and put Satoru Iwata as president. And Shigeru Miyamoto director or something like that. And for the USA, John Carmack. I don't know, there are many possibilities and the protagonist doesn't necessarily have to be in charge if they don't know much about video games.

I don't understand why you're so possessive about video game technology, preventing anyone from releasing games, when the protagonist isn't even focused on making any. But when it comes to movies, you're the complete opposite—you don't seem to care whether filmmakers make movies for you or not. In the video game industry, it's not about who has the technology. Having a monopoly doesn't guarantee your position—it only hinders the industry's development. Just ask Atari.

I'm liking how you're handling the story. Have you thought about The Lord of the Rings? You might not have the special effects now, but a Ghibli-style animated trilogy could be great.

The novel is really good. Are you going to include more TV series? And who is the protagonist's girlfriend? I can't seem to place her in any series.
