I don’t think most people really thought that they could get rid of the zombies and repopulate earth. I think at some point they realized that they could all just try to survive as long as possible until they died off. Also, they probably didn’t kill babies , rather aborted pregnancies in the first trimester. A pregnant woman probably couldn’t outrun much less fight zombies, and having a miscarriage in the middle of fighting would be a death sentence to the person as well as their teammates. They probably didn’t have the luxury to just let a whole horde of pregnant women just stay at the base for 9+ months and then have multiple people take care of groups of babies , toddlers , and children for the next 10+ years. It’s very unrealistic in survival circumstances. I’m sure some people had and kept their children , those who were particularly powerful or important . But that would probably be 1 in 1000 or less.

I’m guessing they change clothes only when bathing . Washing clothes frequently can wear them out. And back then they probably relied mostly on friction to wash dirt instead of modern day detergents

Honestly , even I dislike reading about overly weak willed mls and fls, so I shouldn’t judge others. But I do have a softer spot for those who are struggling because of illness , disability , or even pregnancy, or just because they are slower or weaker or less able . Even though I understand the concept of survival of the fittest, I think what sets humans aside from non sentient beings is our ability and willingness to care for and support those weaker than us.

I too have taken care of sick relatives in my early 20s. That has taught me a lot of patience towards those who are less able either inherently or due to illness . Even though the characters in these books are not alive and cannot be hurt by your comments, the readers who come across your comments can be. They could also be suffering from disability, illness, depression, imposter syndrome, and other life issues that make them feel incapable or a burden. Reading these types of comments on these apps or on comment sections of social media can really take a toll on someone. I apologize if my earlier comment triggered a bad memory for you. My intention was just to make you think twice before commenting what could be hurtful. But I commented something hurtful myself.
