Chantielu1yrPostedI was a bit intrigued by the cover of Starbound Sorceress. The picture definitely shows my envision of Zee. The author did a wonderful job in introducing her to his readers. She didn't have much of a reaction to the inciting incident, though. It was like 'oh, I have a spirit. that's totally normal'. I wished she had shown some kind of realistic emotions to her surroundings. Regardless, I like her. Obviously, since I am a huge fan of morally grey characters. Her companion spirit is my list of favorite thing in the story. The interaction between the two got me smiling. Top tier to the banter. Totally a good read

Cylia placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "What's on your mind, dear?" Cylia asked softly. He turned to his wife, looking into her light brown eyes. "I'm worried Zee likes combat a little too much. Just look at her. I doubt she will want to follow family tradition and pick a non combat class like us?" Alister Viotti sat in a plush lawn chair next to his wife in their backyard. The backyard was rather small compared to the size of their estate, leading to a hundred-foot cliff with a cave opening. Panic consumed me. My chest contracted. Breathing became a burden. My tear ducts emptied themselves. I did the only thing my voice box would allow. I screamed. he whispered, 'if I hadn't known better I would think you were lying.' He said it because she told him she didn't want to be near him. However, because of his scent and good looks, Brianna's brain took a while to process what Kyle said. Hence, the statement.
My brain decided to analyze what Kyle whispered before. The words slowly swirled in my head.
