honestly, I believe it's just a big plothole that they didn't bother correcting. I based Naruto awakening the chains to Karin's awakening of them in Shippuden. they both don't have any knowledge about them but managed to use them anyways through desperation. lazy writing but it works. obviously the chains in this Naruto's verse work like a kekkei genkai, otherwise he wouldn't have awakened them in the first place. he thinks they're a hidden technique, but they're actually not in this verse.

and also yep, Boruto is a terrible sequel for Shippuden. I plan on adding Boruto elements to my story but I'm changing a lot of things that they got wrong, like Sasuke constantly being out of chakra, naruto seemingly losing six paths and access to other tailed beast's chakra and so on.

I did some research, apparently they're classified as hidden techniques. it's a weird thing for me too because I used to think they're the kekkei genkai of the uzumaki. it's in the Naruto wiki too.

nope, you won't have to. the reason for the chapter delay was my mom and brother's visit. and also the fact that I have multiple projects that I have to do and submit. now I have more time to write so you won't have to wait that long.
