I feel like technology probably plays a role in why a civilization like this also wouldn't be as advanced at chess as we are, we have computers that let you play with anyone on the globe and machines that can play chess for or against you at varying skill levels.

Any plans for armor trims? I can't imagine them being as cosmetic as in the game considering their rarity and expense, perhaps they would act as a secondary form of enchant, with something like vex giving intangiblity, silence echolocation, eye teleportation, wayfinder speed, etc.
