Maybe Dinah is controlling him, possessing him in some way. That would explain why Alicia is feeling off about him but also not feeling any evil intent. It would also explain his blackout before he woke up at the castle. Looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Author, i think this story is finished but seriously, please pick a tense and stick to it. No more "they were" and "they can" in the same sentence. I'm loving the story so far but this has been really confusing!

Glad you're feeling better! I have so many questions about these Long Lost Tale chapters - is that Abigails potentially immortal mother, who is also called Abigail? Is it our Abigail, and she's had some kind of spell on her to move her through time? I know there's some content on the importance of the soul, like when Abigail stabbed Alex and half his soul died. Is the Young Abigails soul in our Abigail? Ahhhh too many questions!
