Going from the plural systems to the singular host made it sound strange to me. Might not be necessary to fix but whatever. , but the host was a pure idiot with a lot of potential and luck. -> , but the hosts were pure idiots despite their potential and luck.

This does not change the amount of “money” in the system. Many countries used to have their currency backed by gold and gold might be used to trade when dealing with lots of money. People could go to a bank and turn in their paper money and get back gold. This did not mean there was more money. The same goes for cultivation resources. It is simply another form of it. If it had been around 20k I could have accepted it. Besides, if there are enough for every kid to get 2 then it is not all that scarce, meaning a lower price. The only reasonable way for this econemy to exist is if the government provided everything (Food, water, electricity, houses, healthcare , etc.) people needed and the 5k was just a little free spending cash. Meaning such a large chunk went to the government that they could afford to pay it. But this econemy has not been described. If you can’t believe it, think of a phone. Where I live most people have one. I will be generous and say they replace it every 2 years without a trade in and pay for cell service at 90$ per month. Assuming their phones are 1k each, after 100 years they would pay 158k. No where near 2 mil. In fact, people earning 5k per month would have to work for 400 years without spending anything (ignoring raises) to make that up. These 2 dark crystals of yours are priced the same as luxury homes and small mansions. No governent can afford to do all that unless there has been inflation. Basically if there was no inflation (from our real world currency standards) then the average people earn has gone up, meaning the top 1% are earning less. Here is an example in terms of what that means. America is a wealthy country and the total worth (resources - debts) is around 120 trillion. This is a generous estimate. Total worth includes things like how much your house is worth. It is more than just raw money. That total wealth could pay for 60 million students to be awakened. Afterwards the average person in the US would be completely broke and own nothing. That is not even 1/6 of the US population and the US is a wealth country. Hence unless there is inflation, or some crazy impossible econemy exists, these prices are rather unrealistic. Also, if a government/group is going to spend that much effort to make sure everyone gets to awaken or at least attempt it, then it would make sense if they created scholarships/sponsorships for talented students. There is no point in finding everyones potential if don’t do anything with it. The reason why those talent testers work in cultivation worlds is because they are reusable and they actually take the more talented people. The other reason is that the majority of the population earns next to nothing and lives off the land. In novels where the currency is different, authors can get away with more because it is harder to quantify and value. (This comes from the fact that earlier in this book someone remarked that it would be impossible to exceed some stage due to lack of background)
