Technically they arent fictional, there all real. It's just that the people who get a glimpse of said reality while in their own reality perceive it to be a dream of their own creation.
In the same line of thought, there were Sean's claims of what and where each of those lives were. At least there, Clark understood parallel worlds and knew them to be real. B.S it was the other way around Zaraki was the one who unconsciously lowered their strength as he was in awe of the first kenpachi's strength. He never wanted the battle to end, but Captain unahonna couldn't keep up, though she won in the end she understood that infact she was not Zaraki's opponent. Words of endearment like dear or honey would be better to further show their connection/bond...Plus it's very unusual for a married couple to call each other by their names constantly... Also its not cultivation its training because cultivation entells the practice of inner strength. Which spiritual energy isnt... Evil spirits can be a little confusing so calling them hollows is better especially since they both have lived in the soul society for countless years,which will reinforce the labeling of hollows.
