NO, not a goodie. A baddie.
why does this, paint by numbers "the weak are eaten by the strong" story thread, sound much better here, than in any other paint by numbers cultivation story?
TL;DR "A succubus rencarnation sexy-funtime isekai power fantasy." I'm not gonna stand here and tell you if you should burn this from your memory or if your gonna defend this as "not-hentai." Also, it is hentai because the first two scenes are were the story actively describes its characters in a sexual manner, In The First Two Scenes, WHILE ALL OF THEM ARE IN THE NUDE! IT'S!!! HENTAI!!!!! Sorry about that I just had to let off some steam. So, yea our "not-hentai" protagonist is a superpowered isekai succubus, who's overpowered and has all of the wishfufilment BS of the story drop on them. Look, it isn't offensive to people's sexuality from what I saw. And there's no grooming or rape so honestly it's not immoral to read, at least by the rate of the first 15 chapters. But if this isn't your thing then you shouldn't read, and if it is then it's not bad, but it isn't good either.
yes, yes. We all know what irony is.
dam, skippy.
Over all It could be worse. Look, I'm not going to stand here and act like you guys are all naive enough to not know what's going on in the "obvious Isekai." Its average joe shmo isekaied into, pause for dramatic effect, the heros ring. A legendary god-tier artifact that no one in this entire world has heard about. And of course the isekai "victim." 'Really hard to sell this genre as a bad time.' Is an overpowered magic mcguffin. Well he... It? has the potential to be. Yea, the Pepsi-twist that this generic isekai story going for is that he's a potentially "game breaking" support item for the hero, who does all the fighting. This is actually interesting and gives the story an air of tension that other fantasy story's don't have. Real death. See as top tier loot the protagonist is sort of immune to being killed or destroyed, but each arc's big bad. But the fingers he's on are much less safe. Heck the first couple of chapters convey that lesson very clearly. As he's then stuck to the knight who killed his last "finger detonator." And even though his new "benefactor" is your generic knight-like champion of justice. The fact that the ring is destined to go to the hero, gives tension to fights. Throughout the first arc I was worried for the knight, and as strong as he was he was going up against a final-boss-like opponent. The only thing that is truly holding this story back is the wrighting quality, and the character dynamics. And, slowly but surely both are improving.
ZERO!!!!/5 To summarize how much I didn't want to read this book: I received two free fast passes for this book and two chapters into the story I decided that I didn't want to spend them and let them expire. That should tell you all that you need to know. I'll admit the concept of a student being infatuated with their teacher has potential in a needs to learn a harsh reality that their teacher isn't all that great and has to wake up from a delusional fantasy sort of way. But that's not what they're trying to do. It's an all yandere harem and there is no one with any sense to point out why that's a bad idea to the author. But real talk, I read 10 chapters and I regret it completely. That should tell you all you need to know.
Someone needs to drop a Frankenstein story on them, real fast otherwise there gonna be a mistake happening real soon.
"Personal note: sorry about the glitch, hope you can get this whole thing sorted out." personal score: 5/5 webnovel's scores are different from my own. So those of you reading this please know that the score above is fully by webnovel standards. The reason I do this is that when I disagree with a score I can explain why 'I' liked the story and people who don't read reviews will miss out on the nuance in my reviews. Now to the book! Alice, Angel of Mercy is fundamentally a Isekai Story. It's the same setup as all the others. Bla bla reasons, bla bla Video Games, bla bla Another World. But the details are in the setup and how it affects the story going forward. That's Right! The Real World Affects The Plot! The MC is a paraliziac and signs his life, if you can call living in a machine strapped up like a lab experiment by Dr. Frankenstein living, away to beta test a new virtual reality video game. Ten points if you can guess what happens next? [ ] Everything Tunrs Out Well [ ] An Evil AI gets loose in the real World [ ] An Evil corporation, Duh!?!? [ ] None of the above. [ ] All of the above. Yea, so The Video Game Company pulls a Argus, and our un-witting protagonist is thrust into a knock off swords and sorcery parody world. With their concent on the dotted line of course. So, like I said standard right, but here's where it gets good. Alice has conflict that drives the story forward, and resolution on those elements in the short and long term. And I is very clear that Alice, the character not the book, isn't the center of the universe. Her world is a MMO and because of that she literally can't do everything. Plus she's a healer, her job on the battlefield is to keep people alive not deal damage. So fights in this story are a bit more tense not for the fact that Alice might die, but that she might fail her roll and someone else might. So, Alice, the book again, has a protagonist that isn't the center of the world, A fight system where teamwork is mandatory for success, and Consequences for the heros and villain in the story. What happens when you mix them all up? You get something fresh. Fresh and good and it makes you feel good.
You get me Autumn. Respect!
That is a 'very' specific promise.
Oh' man. This author gets me. Cultivation story's suck.
