It didn't seem as bad before, but the more time he spent around others, the more memories and visions would inevitably settle down in his mind and slowly twist his own thoughts.

The most eye-catching was a tall and imposing woman with deep tan skin. Her complexion was darker than even Caster's making her stand out more. Even still, that wasn't what really drew the eye. No, it was her clothing which almost caused Gehrman to choke. The old Gehrman and the nameless prodigy both came form an era where certain…pressures were placed on women, especially on how they dressed. Needless to say, they, and thus the current Gehrman, was not ready for how much skin she was showing. It didn't help that he was in a 13 year olds body either.

So apparently, Kai saw my corpse. That didn't make sense. I was alive. Breathing, thinking, annoying the guards for sport. So that meant either it wasn't my corpse, or I'd been resurrected. Or cloned. Or reincarnated. Or maybe that illusion fiend had messed with reality so bad that it made a fake me.

Her body looked like it had been whittled down by some cruel sculptor. Gaunt. Fragile. Skin stretched tight over brittle bones, her spine bent into a crooked shape. Her legs rested lifelessly on the wheelchair footrests, thin and unmoving, like they hadn't known strength in years. Even her neck looked too weak to hold her head properly, dipping and straining like she carried a weight no one else could see.
