Him being lonely doesn’t excuse him being abusive to her for 3 years. No matter what his reasons were for keeping her locked up and isolated from people and the outside world it’s not okay. It’s not something that should be forgiven. If anybody irl thinks he’s a great guy even after reading about Momo’s traumatizing past… they should find a therapist for themselves.

You're right about that, but it's still disturbing to read. It makes one wonder how a writer can make a story like that without feeling disgusted (this isn't meant to be an insult to the writer it's just curiosity).
