I call B.S. No country would forego taxes. Instead, you'd have the issue of both countries trying to force the citizens to pay taxes to THEM, regardless of whether they had already been paid to the other country.

I'm kind of imagining him setting up the couple with a place to live, right by the sea, then telling them that he needed to leave, and that they'd never see him again. However, he had an "apprentice" of sorts, and had already sent for him, asking them to look after him, and the apprentice would protect them in return. Then he leaves, scales back his age until he's between 10 and 16, and returns, basically becoming their adopted son.

Exactly how strong of a magnet is that sword? It would have to be incredibly strong to not just deflect their trajectory, but draw everything to it. Like coil gun levels of magnetic field strength. Plus, the idea of a magnetic sword is just laughable. Magnets are magnets because the magnetic domains within the metal are aligned. Both heating up the metal to be able to pound it into a sword, and the pounding itself would scatter those magnetic domains. But let's do some hand waving and say the material is magic, so there's no issues with the sword having a strong magnetic field. Strong magnetic fields can cause dizziness by affecting the fluid in the inner ear, and making you see flashes of light by stimulating the retina. And don't tell me he is too strong for those to affect him. If that was true, he wouldn't be affected by normal stimuli, either, and so wouldn't be able to balance and would also be blind, because light would no longer be strong enough for him to see with. And that doesn't even take into account how not just enemy weapons, but EVERYTHING magnetic in the immediate surroundings would constantly be flying at him.

So we REALLY need this elaborate of a back story for a guy that's only been mentioned really and is in the process of dying, and another guy we just met who will die very soon?
