I have seen a lot a novels where the mc gets a bad feeling but does nothing or tell nothing, you would thing someone who read novels would know beter, i gues once you are in the novel you forget the clichés

this whole thing is reds fault, as Inala pointed out, and he is still the weakest and dumbest of them all
