The first weapon I trained him in was a short spear of course he wielded it as if it was a regular spear I also gave him a small wooden shield that was strapped to his forearm so it wouldn't limit his mobility. The next weapon he was trained in was the scimitar it was lighter than a longsword but longer than a short sword so he kept it the same size but the boy has to carry it on his back and wield it with two hands like a great sword.
