I would say yes to aspects of the earth like sand, dirt, rocks, etc. However, metal feels like it would have to be categorized under a new type of magic to me, at least. So I would say Metal Magic is different from Earth Magic.
Secondly, to increase my destructive capacity, I decided to work on another magic, Explosion Magic, to use in conjunction with my Flame Manipulation. This seemed to be the most obvious choice upon consideration since it naturally increases the lethality of flames and scales up the area of effect. It's more of the ingredients you need rather than an instruction manual.
Of course, I knew I would somehow have to boost my thought process to attain Thought Acceleration since it was the first skill I decided to go for, but there was no clear way for me to do this. The best I could think of was meditating and somehow trying to force my brain to work faster. However, that was much easier said than done. I spent weeks sitting and trying out different techniques I thought up to try and increase my processing speed. Once the short and uneventful battle was over, I looked down at the bodies and got to work with a sigh. My sword was not the best tool for harvesting stones, but it was all I had. I ended up breaking the first magic stone accidentally when I stabbed a little too roughly into the corpse and shattered the stone. True, I guess Prodigy is a bit of a misnomer, but it was the best I came up with at the time.
I took a slow, deep breath and worked on pulling the mana within my body to the surface on command to start. This gathering on mana was the most simple and elementary technique that every elf child was taught early on. I failed the first few times to do it, but quickly found myself improving substantially with every attempt. I laughed and thanked the universe for giving me Prodigy once more as I finally got the technique down, gathering a chunk of raw mana in my outstretched hand. - SleepySailor1mthReplied to SleepySailor
On a more serious/less passive-aggressive note. Gaining any skill in a few weeks is insane speed in Tensura. Most people only gain a few skills in their entire lives. Having a single Unique Skill puts you in the top 10% instantly. Skills require extremely specific circumstances to gain, and it's only the people with skills around gaining other skills that end up with more than a couple. The reason for Rimuru and everyone else's growth is entirely due to Great Sage, then Wisdom King Raphael, then Ciel. Ciel is actually the reason most of Rimuru's friends have Ultimate Skills at all.
Even something as simple as Magic Sense would take me at least a few weeks of careful meditation to acquire properly. Even then, without Thought Acceleration my mind will be constantly burdened by the overload of information that the skill brings in. Obtaining Thought Acceleration in and of itself will require dealing with a whole slew of other problems and specialized training. Then, if I go through with gaining those two skills then a fair bit of time will have already passed.
