I’m of the other opinion of the other comment. Because I tried my best AND failed. And yet, I found other things I never thought I would by trying my best. People that saw and respected me because I was doing everything I could to be the best I could, and became good friends. A coach that saw that I was the worst on the team, yet had the best attitude and said I was a better man than himself. I have experiences with others, who despite being better than me in certain areas, considered me equal because of my work ethic and comradery. You may fail, sure. But you may also end up gaining in things that far surpass simply a “victory” you thought was the most important part.

His system is fair to the players, but he himself is technically a hypocrite because he wants to be the final boss. Thus, he is the only one outside of the system’s “fairness.” Kayaba made himself the sole exception to the rules he placed, as its creator, and so while the rules of the game are fair, they’re not equal. At least not for him. It happened in the original show, so it’s pretty obvious it would happen here.

I wonder how Yui would be looking at this now actually. This seem much more vibrant and happy in the game in comparison to the original story, especially for Reavers Requiem.
Such a festive mood felt wrong before a major battle took place. SAO should have been a dark and gloomy place. Close to 3 thousand people were already dead, including many friends. And yet, even here, good things could come about. That made a difference. - NitroMiyazaki15dCommented

All this fanfic really needs is that final battle against the brother gods that has been building up since the beginning. If that’s too much to ask, then perhaps a break with something else until you feel refreshed enough to finish the story in the end. From what I see though, this story looks like it’s already nearly over.
