I mean it's not in the way you might need for that idea to work. It's wealth in the form of "instant skill learning" but that is the most incompatible wealth with idea of a gun. Mostly because just being superhuman (reflexes, steadiness, perception) allows you to master any gun. So you don't even need the time to spend on developing weapon skills and learning combat. All of it can go solely to cultivation. Unless there are some things that I am still missing about the palace which is entirely possible given I'm still on early chapters

I like your ideas, but I feel like you are missing the part on how durable cultivators really are. If it was wuxia levels, then this would work perfectly. But on xianxia levels, unless it's the type of cultivators who have all their durability come from some active qi shield, and mortal level bodies (btw this rarely ever the case, and I am saying this to address your concerns on intent, as this is the type of ciltivators such a weapon would be truly effective on given they coildnt sense the intent and ise active shields) otherwise this would be extremely unefficient. The amount of physical energy needed to match supernatural strength would be astronomical. Even if you did manage to make one, that simply uses the powerful from the cultivator itself for power (which I think you are referring to) it would indeed work well in his current stage, maybe even a sizable multiplicative boost given he manages to design one. But the main problem is that cultivators strength rises exponentially, a weapon like this with a quantitative multiplier would fall behind in the realm after even if very dominating in current realm. This is where intent comes in, it provides a boost that grows together with the cultivator even of not necessarily dominating. Your idea about weapon throwing materials is not very efficient either, theoretically a material that in its refined form can harm a cultivator significantly would be very, very expensive for a one time use "bullet". BUT if MC had unlimited riches or resources points for this, this might be the best and fastest way to become stronger tbh which is why I think it's pretty interesting
