To be clear, adrenaline nullifies pain to a large degree. he would probably be fine for a while. During a life or death situation, adrenaline gets so high, people have been known to ignore all sorts of severe injuries

animals don't drop when you hit them. they run around for a bit before hyperventilating and passing out / bleeding out. Also I'm not sure how a single shot from a rifle would fell a demonic polar bear
