I'm gonna be forgiving and think it was a wall of trees
I propelled myself into the air, using airbending to boost my flight. I flew aimlessly for a while until I accidentally passed through a wall, losing control over my airbending. I continued uncontrollably until I crashed into the forest, leaving a crater behind. Remarkably, I got up, dusted myself off, and acted as if nothing had happened.
