I partially agree, but pretty much everyone who starts out as a Magus is in the same predicament due to the learning curve of magic. Trap Magic was a fun idea I thought of which would be good for early arcs and even useful for later ones. Plus, it's not as if he'll be stuck with it for all his life. He can naturally learn others, and at Tier 2 and higher, Klyde will have other forms of magic.
