In all honesty IMO It works when the planet you go to has history of alternate universes... Like this one has it with alternate Marks... Its not a stretch to say that you know of some possible happenings due to having already seen it and understanding that it may happen in other universes as well. It explains the meta knowledge if MC decides to use it and is found out cause not everyone is dumb enough not to notice. It actually helps and explains a lot in most cases. Just saying that yes, its a sort of golden rule not to mention being isekaid, its a dumb idea to have anyone know that you know too much or where you actually come from or who you really are. BUT if you want to not always be caught lying than giving half truths is better in some cases... we all know most of the times lying goes only so far in real life.
