no that is why a mace or warhammer is more cost effective. even plate armor is weak to mace and warhammer much less a peasant's armor that is more resistant o cuts than blunts, there is a reason why swords are noble weapon, and frontline(peasant) weapon are blunt weapons predominantly. even if he used longsword he would need more finese and mastery to kill a peasant whereareas a mace or warhammer only needs a clean hit to kill and encapacitate. in battlefield a sword is more of a pistol than a rifle, the more effective battlefield malee weapon are hammers, maces, or polearms. and finally, a big heavy sword is a lot more taxing to wield than a mace or warhammer which is more balanced to transfer all the impact force in a single point and breakthrough what ever recieve the hit.

i dont understand your point, most peasant armor are at best leather at worst multiple layers of annimal hide or cotton wool. point is swords ar less effective against it than it would have if it were been blunt weapon. my point is, no matter if its padded armor, hide armor, cotton armor, or leather armor all of this peasant armors are effective at defending against cuts but is not effective against blunt weapons more than prince rheagar's arnors effectiveness at defending against roberts warhammer.
