Long story short, the kid's got issues. And as long as he doesn't resolve them, he cannot channel his full potential.

Lin was thinking about what he was planning to do to get the money. Obviously, he couldn't just beat the boy and take it from him, because once he recovers, he might go after Peter's family. After all, if you can't get the perpetrator, then you go for the next best thing.

What I'm trying to say is that whatever he says he is, it's the description of the ideal version of himself that he believes he is. Whereas in reality, he's nowhere close to what he perceives himself to be. I think that's why he acts in an irrational manner. I think his ideal version is a cold blooded person who is also superior to those psychopaths who people perceive to be bad. He believes himself be better than everyone else, but at the same time he wants acknowledgement from them as well. It's contradictory, but I think that's because he hasn't come to terms with his approval issue.

I guess, but I think Lin doesn't want to think of himself as just a cold blooded killer, because most of the time, the world usually treats such people as garbage, and he doesn't want to think so. He wants to be superior and someone who doesn't want to be tied down to social norms, but then again, he does have a problem with how people perceive him; like with Rin when he hated being pitied by her, or when he got stressed out by his family when their expectations weren't met. So even though he might have crossed the point of no return, and even though he probably knows that, I think deep down he does want some sort of acknowledgement, maybe from himself, that he's different from those people that the society calls garbage. And while I do get that psychopaths tend to not worry about stuff like that, I think Lin does, seeing as seeking approval is what got him to become such a person in the first place. And as Lin is has kind of a different mindset, he does feel anger and lose control more often than psychopaths. Unlike them, Lin does subconsciously care about his image, even though he may believe to be more superior to feel so. I also think he's kind of a hypocrite as well. Not all the time, but still...

Yeah, the thing is, I kinda have the whole story in the most basic form in my head, but the world building needs to be extremely complex and I realised I needed to study up on war and politics and stuff. And plus, I thought this needed way more time to develop and the webnovel pace is not good for it. So I kept it aside for now. I'll probably get back to it, though I don't know when. I'm glad you enjoyed the premise though.

It's less about caring for the family and more about setting up rules for himself. He is probably a psychopath, but he doesn't want to believe that he's one. He doesn't want to end up losing his reasoning and sanity. So he sets up rules for himself. (Although yeah, he probably might be a psychopath)

And about Reyaz telling him that he would die, he does know that, but at that point it was a 'do whatever and die' point of life for Lin. And plus, if he didn't agree, he wouldn't get transported so... And to Lin it doesn't matter if Reyaz is a bad guy or not. Lin right now wants to live and go higher, and he won't be able to do that knowing someone can end his life if they chose to do so. I'm planning to make him even more ruthless, so don't worry about that part

About this part; it's more about choosing whether to believe her or not. Like he says in the previous chapter, it's better to choose to believe her rather than not. If he chooses not to believe her, that would mean he has no other options available to beat The Man Upstairs. If he does, at least it gives a clear cut option. And sure, she might be lying, but at this point, Lin has to escape the hands of an immortal, someone who's limits he hasn't got a clue of. It's better to have a clear answer to someone who's as powerful as him. It doesn't matter to Lin whether Reyaz might be a bad guy or not. The point is, Lin would never be able to live peacefully with his life at the mercy of another, especially someone who's an immortal. His fight with him is inevitable. Don't worry tho, he's not choosing sides and all. Lin's the kind of guy who changes sides the moment a better opportunity comes along. There's only one side for him: His side.

Meiz pointed at his chest, and Lin nodded. He had to find the legion to escape from the clutches of Reyaz, or else he might be discarded by him eventually.

Do you honestly think things will go as she wants it to be? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Lin's still pretty ruthless, don't worry, he has a plan.
