Oh! It was a happy ending alright! The ending of the inconceivable flame was damn practical where there was no such thing like "I love you, so I love your darkness too, and I'll embrace everything that comes with you" from him or her leaving her dark side for him. It was just as it should have been. I say I'd be rather disappointed if they ended up together after all that, because he would only drag her down and she would only scare him with her surprises later. I liked how it ended. It was bittersweet, but it's the best ending the story could have. Reminds me of the time when I watched the last episode of The Originals when Klaus and Elijah die in the end. It was the most heartbreaking, but also the most perfect ending they could use to end the vicious cycle of life they had as immortals after how they lead their lives.
