So it’s really TL.DR but a shorter version is the population could not read. So what the Bible “said” could literally be different town to town, church to church. Allowing the people the ability to read it themselves is what caused the Catholic Church to lose much of its power. So our MC is basically hastening the process, plus he’s obviously going to put his own spin on it.
Thus among the list of blueprints, he was creating was the printing press, so he could give everyone a copy of the bible to study in their own time, and of course, the education materials they would need to cover as a class.
