I completely agree. I am also a semi new writer, but I've read enough works to know some tips and tricks about writing. 1 is that you focus on the characters more than the setting, unless the setting is important in that scene. Also, don't spend too much time describing a person or place. Googling different ways to word phrases, or using a thesaurus can come in handy here. This you to make your sentences less lengthy if that's part of the issue. 2. Reading helps, a lot. reading other people's work can really help you pick up things to use in your writing. It can also help you notice and learn more writing styles and help you find one that you are comfortable using as a reference for your own. 3. Story outlines. These are super super helpful in planning your novel and eventually in writing it. I personally go off of my own scripts quite often, but just having a general idea of what you are going to write helps my imagination flow. I have no clue if you found any of this helpful, but good luck with your works!

Of course, from a professional standpoint, a story written for the sake of practice doesn't really need to have that many words in it. That's because in theory, an author who's capable of finishing a 500,000-word long novel has already learned the foundational writing skills necessary. As long as such an author has a complete outline for their story, writing two or three million words will no longer be so difficult.
