my problem is that the ranks are just wrong. they've used army ranks on a ship, so it should be naval ranks and two in the army a major outranks a captain, and so does colonel (next chapter) so the girlfriend is the lowest in rank with the system they're using here. he should be a sub lieutenant/lieutenant, and the guy in the next chapter should be a lieutenant commander/commander for the ranks to be correct.
