Okay. So, after I reviewed this chapter I went back and made a search throughout the entire manuscript. And yup. ZaiWin had never said thank to Snow. Not even once! Not that I could find anyway. Snow lowered his head again. He knew that. He had tried to do so on other occasions, but it had never worked. It had been a silly suggestion, he knew. ZaiWin's energy was too different from his, his energy reservoir too big. Snow would probably die from exhaustion and still be unable to replenish it. A disturbing sense of familiarity washed over him. It was as if he'd been in that place before. Better yet, as if he had gone back in time and was reliving the same situation again. FeiWan gritted his teeth trying to restrain the sudden wave of annoyance that washed over him. He couldn't, didn't want to even consider the possibility that GinWan might be successful in his mission. But, worse than that, what really annoyed him was the knowledge that, apparently, he wasn't the reason why CalRimRan had decided to go against his people's decision, and chosen to stay behind. Did he choose to stay or it was decided for him? I can’t stop myself of wondering. Or his choice to stay has cost him something... Severe a link with his people ? Took a toll on his health ? 🤔

And yet, even though FeiWan couldn't help feeling suspicious about the true reasons behind CalRimRan's presence, another, much deeper part of him was actually relieved that he had stayed. That they hadn't parted ways with the echo of his harsh words still ringing in both their ears. That he had been granted a chance to try and fix things between them. He didn't know why. But, somehow, even though he had said all that the last time they'd met, the truth was that he didn't want CalRimRan to remain angry at him. - Red_Kellin1yrCommented

Placing a hand on the cold tabletop, FeiWan lowered his gaze, his chest feeling strangely constricted. He hated that place. He hated that table and those chairs. He hated those walls. He suddenly wondered why CalRimRan had done that. Go through all that trouble just to try and convince him to leave with him. Surely someone as well educated and intelligent as him was more than aware of FeiWan's position, and that he wouldn't be able to simply pack his stuff and happily leave the Palace. He had royal obligations to uphold. But, more importantly, he had to stand his ground and defend his position from those who constantly ploted to undermine his status as one of the most likely to succeed the throne, So, what had he been thinking? From what he knew of CalRimRan there was no way he wasn't aware of such things. Above all, what really riled him up was that the stubborn man had refused to give him a plausible explanation! And yet, now that he could think past his initial anger and outrage, he couldn't help feeling that there must have been a very good reason behind his uncharacteristic insistence. - Red_Kellin1yrCommented
It's been a year, and maybe more, since I stopped reading. I even forgot which chapter I was reading last. So I'm back, reading my old comments and reminiscing how I had fun. 😊

Nox was the wildest and most disorganized Province of the Empire, filled with thieves and cutthroats that, apparently, were making an effort to … amend their ways? Apparently! Because it was still widely known that, if you wanted someone killed in the dead of the night, or if you wished for someone to mysteriously disappear, Nox's underground bands of thieves and murders were still the best at their trade. And now, all that criminal riffraff was surprisingly under the command of the Governor of Nox, many of these notorious men making up what people politely called the 'armed forces of Nox'. Of course someone was bound to warn that bastard that they were coming for him! Or had they all forgotten how he could practically disappear from one place to the other? If cornering him and apprehending him were that easy, FeiWan would have dragged him in chains all the way to the Palace a long time ago! - Red_Kellin3yrCommented

"Snow? Open his eyes," ZaiWin softly commanded, unsure that, with his energy sealed, his voice would be able to reach him. But Snow frowned, his eyelashes fluttering open. He immediately sat back on his heels, looking around with a startled expression on his face, trying to gather his bearings.
