I don’t know if I completely missed an appearance description way back, but up until this moment I swore Xiao Qi was supposed to look like a toddler or something. Never in my head was she a beast. And now I’m just confused because the newly described features are not forming any sort of cohesive picture in my head…
Mo Shiyun is actually a pretty decent character. The only hatred I really feel for her comes from how her indecisiveness and trying not to trouble those she is close to hurt the MC. All of what she has done (as I can remember, at least), hasn’t been out of malice but because someone else (I.e. her mother) put her in a bad situation. Her decisions certainly weren’t right, but I can understand why she made them. She actually seems like someone who could be the heroine of a story, which is what she is technically supposed to be from our MC’s viewpoint. Even when it comes to Qiu Yizhen, I can sympathize with her considering her family situation. Still not a great person, and she does horrible things, but there is more to her than just a snobby female dog. There are actually very few characters in this story that are straight up hateful. It’s a nice change from a lot of these novels that just have hateful vipers at every corner with no background or redeemable qualities. At least most of these people are good to their friends/family. Granted, this is certainly subject to change in future chapters, but so far it’s oddly relieving to read. But no matter what I’m rooting for our MC 100% and I still get really frustrated when they do anything against her.
