The translator can be blamed a little bit here. It should be medieval gothic armour, not gothic medieval armour. (even though all gothic armour is medieval). Gothic (plate) armour does not refer to armour that existed in the gothic period. In the context of armour it refers to a very specific style of german white armour that existed for a short time in the 15th century. It's characterised by fluting, articulated joints and almost always the headwear is a bevor and sallet. There's actually relatively minor variation in gothic plate styles since it only existed for ~80 years, was produced by relatively few and existed only in some regions. So when the author says gothic in the context of plate armour he is being quite specific. It would be hard to be more so without describing the articulations or the shapes of particular pieces of plate.
