his shikai is game based rules for attacks such as color game, shadow stepping, and other stuff his bankai is harder to explain, but basically, it's suicide with extra steps but if his energy is stronger he survives.
bit late, but it's not catching fire the way it works, (and this applies in real life as well) When the mind receives a stimulus, it categorizes and then responds appropriately but when categorized wrong do to an overwhelming trusted source (such as your eyes, ears, and or memories of a previous similar pain) the body responds with how it believes it should so in this specific situation both extreme temperatures hot and cold if felt briefly feel about the same so the body requires a secondary stimulus to know which one. by fooling the body, say by showing a flame and after taking it out of view putting ice on the person briefly they will believe again briefly that they were burnt and if they believe it long enough the skin will blister just as if it was burnt because blisters aren't caused by heat it is just your body's response to it in order to heal. there are cases where people have hallucinations of burning and become covered in blisters to a near lethal degree. this is both the more interesting and concerning topic of how the brain interacts with the body and can be fooled. sorry to ramble, just a fun fact.
it's sad to see, but it's definitely different. I didn't expect it to end like this, but I really enjoyed this thanks.
