The frustrating part is that the author portrayed the main character as the only genius in the entire A Song of Ice and Fire world — as if everyone else is just too dumb to think or compete. That completely ignores how complex and intelligent many characters in that world are. It felt shallow, like the author was desperate to prove how clever the protagonist is, even if it meant breaking the logic of the story.
