I forgot to comment on this in the last beast tide, but why don’t they trap the hell out of the areas outside of the village to lighten the amount of monster reaching the walls, like snares, pitfalls, flour bombs(since they have wheats), sharpen stakes, etc

That’s a foreshadowing for sure
