I find this fake and impossible. First off, you have never and I mean NEVER, learned how to use any type of energy including pure magic. Gwen was self-taught, yeah, but she has much more of an affinity for it than Ben. This MC shouldn't even know everything about Ben 10 because not everyone can know everything. Finding a magic book or talking to his aunt would have been a better idea. Not just that but Gwen is smarter than Ben and has a better affinity for magic. Which means that she should also have this knowledge of magic.
