It’s more likely that the insanity plea works every time despite the fact that the Joker shows that he is clearly within his mental faculties due to the he has well thought out plans. You’re right but he is also in a cultivation world, the second he found out he was in a cultivation world he should have been preparing himself for when he inevitably was going to kill someone because at some point there will definitely try to kill him for one reason or another. It’s just the standard of cultivation worlds, no one can take a joke and the smallest slights lead to fights to the death.

It may be perfectly valid as a tactic, but it also shouldn’t be surprising that it could also get you stabbed in return one way or another. It’s a tactic where you throw away honor in pursuit of victory and thus your opponent no longer has a reason to be honorable in their combat either.
