oh you sweet summer child, it depends on how large of land they have. Usually those who rich enough own the most of the farm land in the village and employ the villager to tend the farm which if used to farm rice can get pretty much far more than a ton of rice. furthermore in Indonesia, rice can be planted all year around, so do a lot of other vegetables like green chili, potato, eggplant, cucumber and many more. they might live on a village far from a city, but that doesn't mean they are not rich. And FYI, a lot of young people from Indonesia who studying abroad are scholarship student.

With him coming to marvel and no threat from Tiamat he can be more free from his duty as a king on a throne but bear a more of a burden as a leader who advance his kingdom for the people.

this is a hard one, because he is a king it's a bit hard for him to be away from his kingdom. leaving his kingdom to be attended without a king for along time is equal to sign of incompetence leader. but i can see him having close relation with Captain America for they are similar in term of experience.
