It was mentioned before, that knowledge of the counterpart plants seed in the person's consciousness. It seems like a normal information only to suddenly find yourself under the sight and gaze of these beings. Even most of the godlings themselves don't know much about the gods counterpart. Imagine mortal reaction when they learn that the gods they see as supreme are also the reason they are being targeted by dark beings.

Spoiler but that kind of is their end goal, growing to a certain level where they themselves make these rules.
