Exactly. Power fantasies can be nice sometimes, but after a while they get boring because there is no tension. I want the protagonist to be able to fail, not have every fight have a foregone conclusion. Anyways, I guess this conversation was a long winded way of saying that we need more stories like this one. :)

I know right! And it's even more ridiculous when the protagonist finds more than one OP technique/treasure. Like sure, the protagonist finds them on the ground like candy but no one else can have even one?? I understand power fantasies are popular and all, but sometimes it gets to be too much.

I think I know what you mean. I find a lot of cultivation stories very similar and trope-y, so finding a story that *doesn't* have a special snowflake/super OP protagonist is like a breath of fresh air.

I actually found Forge of Destiny after I read this story. You're right, I really liked it as well!
