The clone nodded once, but Kilepo sensed the quiet judgment behind the helmet. Relics like him still clung to old notions of honor and restraint. Kilepo had no such illusions. Honor was a luxury for those who could afford to lose. The Empire rose on competence and fear.

Clone troopers. Aging relics of a finished war. Kilepo felt a flicker of disdain. To some they were still heroes who had saved the Republic and forged the Empire. To him they were obsolete tools—rusting weapons best replaced by newer, sharper ones. Men like himself.
