No. I ment the plot. The author is just forcefully trying to make the 'No crying' rule make sense in an attempt to whitewash what he did to his children. What he did was selfish and heartless in an attempt to make himself seem like a 'man'. He brainwashed his children which had long-term negative consequences and abuse and neglect from their relatives because they did not cry (especially in the other time lin without the MC). A few pitiful tears in front of their father, uncle or even people in the village would have drastically improved their life. It would also have brought into light the abuse the children went through.
