The power that he gets from the flame is fine. not too overpowering. The relationships between the different people though are terrible, they kill each other at almost the slightest disagreement or because they want to steal from the other person. For a world being overrun by bugs where the warriors stand and die on the front lines protecting the common people it just doesn't make sense.
