The Solvernia he talks with is a Marketable Plushy based on a character in the mod UAF (United Auroran Federation) for the game Starsector. Back on his original world, he used her for the "Rubber Ducky Debugging Method," explaining his plans and ideas outloud to figure out if they make sense or if they're complete nonsense. Not all his plans are good, but he managed to discard a lot of trash code and plans by using this method.

You could train it, though. Get damage resistance to a high enough level and the damage they deal you can't outpace your passive regeneration.

It means you got into a cut scene fight. Those kinds of damage last beyond the battle, even if you can finish the enemy without taking a hit.
